Today’s Adoption Good News comes from the Shelly, a foster mom and adoptive mom.

Like so many others, my husband Mike and I are infertile and found ourselves facing some tough choices on how to build our family. In early 2008, we were inspired to become foster parents. At first, we thought we would just try to help as many kids as we could while we saved up some money to privately adopt. God had other plans for us and our amazing, and VERY emotional journey through foster care led us to the two oldest of our three precious sons. Four year old Ian and one and a half year old Mason came to us as newborns and changed our lives forever! We have also been incredibly blessed to have met a beautiful birth mother who placed her baby boy with us last year. Little Logan has completed our family and brought us so much joy!
Our three boys are the light and joy of our lives. I have never loved anything more than being their mother and I couldn’t be any more their mother had I given birth to them myself. They are mine and I cherish every minute we have together. I am so grateful that we have them and that they have each other. Our boys love each other so much and it warms my heart every day that we helped them to find their brothers. I can’t imagine my life without these three beautiful, unique and miraculous boys and I am SO grateful God led us to adoption!!!

Today’s Adoption Good News comes from the C Family. She’s a mom through international adoption.
Our family was called to care for orphans through adoption in 2010. We already had two biological children but just knew that adoption was God’s plan for our family. We adopted our daughter in 2011 from China’s special needs program and have been blessed immensely because of it. Although the road has been long and difficult with the transition, including multiple surgeries and therapies, we’ve had to rely on our Heavenly Father more than ever and have grown closer to Him because of it.
We have a beautiful and passionate love for our daughter and truly enjoy being a family of five. She is a wonderful addition to our family and we can see God in her every single day. She is joyful and lights up every room she walks into. She is loving, affectionate, courageous, graceful, smart, funny, silly, and feisty. She has a beautiful spirit and has completely stolen our hearts.
I have grown in so many ways along this journey, as a person, as a parent, and in my faith! Adoption has strengthened our entire family’s understanding of what it means to be one of God’s children. Through her adoption, we’ve been able to get a small glimpse of God’s adoption of us into His Heavenly Kingdom. It is a privilege to be her parents and we are so excited to watch God’s plan for her life unfold. We’re so thankful that God loves adoption and that He trusted us to be her Earthly parents!

Today’s Adoption Good News comes from Ashley. She’s an adoptive mom through international adoption who recognizes how her faith gave her “relentless pursuit” to find her son.
We are the Smith Family, who became a family of three when we brought home our Marvel from Ethiopia earlier this year after almost 3 years waiting!
When I think about the ways I have been blessed by adoption, I can’t help but become overwhelmed…there are so many things that come to mind. Not only is it easy to see how blessed we have been by the incredible sacrifices of First Parents…or how we have increased our faith and trust in the Almighty in the process. Or the ways our family has grown to include people a world away…and of course, nothing compares to the beautiful child that I am in awe of getting to be Mommy to…But in addition to ALL that? There’s a picture being painted. A picture of Relentless Pursuit.
Our journey to Marvel wasn’t easy…although compared to his journey to us? it’s nothing to complain about. For me, throughout the process of bringing him home, the greatest blessing I had (besides Marvel of course) was the revelation of the way that God is constantly pursuing us relentlessly. You see, Marvel was half a world away, in less-than-ideal circumstances when we answered the call to grow our family through adoption. And our commitment was challenged many many times through the ebb and flow of the waiting…the paper-chasing…the waiting…the uncertainty…the loss of a referral…and then (you guessed it) more waiting. But through it all, we knew that our child needed us to waiver not. That our child needed us to be relentless in our pursuit. That he needed us to press on. Kind of like the way God is always pursuing our hearts. Half a world away. In less-than-ideal circumstances. Needing a Father that isn’t going to give up on us. It isn’t His plan that any of us be outside of the safety and inheritance of His Family… He isn’t going to stop pursuing each and every one of us. And in some small way, as the longing and desperation in my heart grew, I had a deeper understanding of the Love He has for his children….
Pursuit isn’t easy and it’s rarely without cost. But it is always worth it.
