Happy National Adoption Awareness Month!
For the last 3 years, I have made an effort to post about adoption everyday during National Adoption Awareness Month as a kind of blogging blitz and I have encouraged you to do the same. Let’s do it again, shall we?
Last year I read about some of you feeling guilty, apologizing or becoming discouraged because you missed a day or something like that. Shenanigans. This is a guilt-free zone. To prove that to you, I am posting this on November 2nd. That’s right. I already missed a day. Resist the temptation to be hard on yourself for something silly and instead, put together some posts this month that mean something to you.
The challenge is not to write every single day. The challenge I am issuing is to just make an extra effort to write about adoption this month.
Let’s dispel some myths. Let’s share our stories–the good and the bad. Let’s talk about this process that is so important to us–what we love and what we would love to change.
For the last 3 years, I have learned so much during National Adoption Awareness Month from all sides of adoption. This is not an activity just for adoptive mommy bloggers, although I hope they will join in too! Everyone is invited even if you have no personal ties to adoption.
Need ideas?

I’ve got my first ADOPTION MONTH post up!! I’m helping to raise money for sweet little Bennett! He’s in an orphanage in Russia, and the money raised will help a family adopt him!
HELP ME HELP HIM!!

I would love to do a post, this would be a perfect time. Thanks for the reminder.
KATEANON! Hot avatar. I am so glad we met IRL! I adore you. Let’s be BFF.
I have posted about adoption at least once a week for the past year… we are hoping to adopt and riding the roller coaster. My lucky blog readers get to ride it with me. It’s been mostly downs this year, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that very soon we’ll find the little person who has been missing from our family! Thanks for your great site!
Maybe I will post something on my adoption/birthmom blog and my personal blog. YAY for November!!
I love this! Already have some posts, but I can always add more! Thanks for the ideas!!
When a child is adopted in this country, his/her original birth certificate (the truthful documentation of his/her birth) is permanently sealed. A falsified “amended” one is issued listing the adoptive parents as the child’s biological parents. Average Joe’s who falsify identity documents serve hard time in federal prison, yet this is done happily in vital record’s offices around this country with the permission of archaeic, discriminatory laws.
We are lucky that we have your youngest son’s OBC! His birth mother released it to us before the adoption was finalized. Incredible!
Posted my final adoption-related piece for National Adoption Month! Thanks for the inspiration!
