For the last three years, I have had the privilege of attending and speaking at the Adoption Retreat sponsored by Scholarships 4 Birthmothers.
Scholarships 4 Birthmothers is a birth mother created/run non-profit organization who provide scholarships to birth mothers of any age so that they can get back to school and further their education.
This retreat is geared more towards adoptive couples and couples hoping to adopt, however birth parents and adoptees who have attended in the past have loved it.
The retreat will be held at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Orem, Utah. R family usually goes on Friday night, mingles, stays at the hotel that night and then attends the main event on Saturday morning/early afternoon. My kids love the pool and hanging with the kids in the child care room of awesomeness. That’s right, there is child care.
Here’s a tentative schedule to entice you:

- 10:30-11:30 Adoptive Couple Panel–Ashley-International Adoption, Jenn-Foster Adoption, Josh-Domestic Adoption, Leisha-Older Child Adoption
- 11:30-12:15 Lunch and Musical Number by Alex Rowley
- 12:15-1:15 Birthmom Speaker(s) Gina Crotts
- 1:15-2 Closing and Raffle

I am giving away a pair of tickets to the retreat with childcare, if needed–$55 value. I have to say, this is such a unique conference because it is mostly geared towards adoptive couples and hopeful adoptive couples but it is organized and sponsored by birth mothers. Come and learn what birth mothers think we adoptive parents need to know.

This is such a tempting offer. My hubby and I are from Alberta and just have our profile to finish as well as our homestudy to be finished and then we will be on the waiting list. We found out about our infertility a year after trying, which also happened to be the one year mark for us being married. It’s been a long journey. Now I think we’re both finally “ready”, not really thinking to much about the “might have beens”. We’re going to utah for conference, so it would be feasible to go except that our conference tickets are for sat. morning. I will be thinking about it and see what hubby thinks about it too. I know it would be great to hear the different perspectives of everyone involved in adoption. Thanks for doing this blog.
