Creating Traditions: Visiting Reindeer

To start off with, I have never seen a reindeer in real life until this year.

When we went to see the lights at Thanksgiving Point, there was a large crowd gathered in the center of the shops to look at Santa’s reindeer, but I try to avoid crowds whenever possible–especially at Christmas time.

Mr. R had mentioned that he saw some reindeer at a Christmas tree lot in Sandy so we took the boys there during the day last week.

No crowds.

No lines.

Plenty of reindeer to enchant my toddlers.

And a couple photo opportunities to boot!

Cost: Free!

Parking: Easy.

Weather: Freeeeezing cold. In fact, we would have stayed longer had it been slightly warmer.

Reason for the Season: Nope.

Christmas Magic:  This is a really mellow afternoon activity with your kiddos …and educational too! Mr. R read and discussed all the factoids with our boys. They were a little disappointed that said reindeer did not fly and the Rudolph was not there. ;)

These reindeer look much happier than the ones Brynn and I found on 7800 S. and 2700 W. They were also in a tree lot, but they had no fun facts and a less friendly environment. Also, they had no water in their dish, which made me sad. We will have to remember the Sandy location next year. Maybe Brynn will be more excited about the reindeer, and less intrigued by the 50 gallon drum they used as a stove to burn wood scraps to keep visitors warm….

I would just like to thank you for these little reviews. I brought my kids up to Salt Lake for a little vacation, and we already went to temple square on Trax, to Gardner Village to find the elves, and for a drive through Thanksgiving Point. It was so fun to do something out of the ordinary. We are also going to find a 5 guys tomorrow since I’ve never had it and you make me feel like I NEED to try.:) Thanks for the great info!

I am so glad to hear that! I have one more review happening tomorrow and then I am done with the series.

As for Five Guys, I am so proud of you! I get the little bacon cheese burger with fixins’ and grilled onions. You must get a Five Guys Style fry as well. (Josh likes the cajun but they are too hot for me.) We went there on Christmas Eve after we took the kids to a dollar movie. That’s a tradition that will keep on keeping on as well! :)

This is right by my grandparents house. We go there every year (except I didn’t go this year) with all of my little cousins. This lot has the BEST Santa Clause too. Real beard and everything!
