I work from home and I am a mom of 3 adorable and rambunctious boys.
Translation: I am very busy.
I try my hardest not to work while my children are home or awake. Needless to say, nap time and school time are frantic busy work times. They also happen to fall around lunch time. Which means lunch time is also frantic and busy.
When I remember to eat lunch, the menu is usually less than stellar. While multitasking, I stand in the panty and look for something quick and easy, also known as candy. Lots of candy. For some reason, it’s the only thing I can see …and you think you’ve got a Candy Crush problem.
I mean, I am a grown adult. This is kind of hard for me to admit, but I have got a real problem! I don’t know if you suffer from this same kind of issue, but if you do, you know that eating candy for lunch is less than ideal for a myriad of reasons–most importantly your waistline and the sluggishness that follows a few hours later. Why do I do this to myself?
On my latest Target run I picked up a cart-full of Lean Cuisine Honestly Good meals–100% all-natural wholesome ingredient. (Slightly different than my candy diet.)
You know what I love about them, aside from how good they taste? They are fast. In about 4 minutes I can have a meal that looks like this:
It’s all there for me in an already-put-together-meal. Gone are the days of staring distractedly into the pantry! You can plate the meal using a French tablecloth and vintage linen if you’re feeling fancy–as seen above. (You’re worth it!) Or you save yourself the dishes and eat it from the tray it comes in. (Just keepin’ it real, people.)
The lean protein and veggies keep me from that crash I’ve been experiencing due to my crush.
All this for 390 calories …which translates to about 10 pieces of my favorite candy. It’s a no-brainer.
I know it’s Halloween season and the house is full of treats, but it’s just as easy and fast to grab something a little more real from your freezer to enjoy.
I feel better about myself already!
