Adoption Good News

April 24th is my favorite day of the year, it is the day I became a mother for the first and second time.

April 24th, 2008 my sweet daughter, Bailey, was born. We have been blessed to have been part of an open adoption. Our second birth mom (Rachel) came into our lives because of a referral from the our first birth mom (Mikelle). Because of our strong relationship with Mikelle she trusted us enough to tell her friend about us. We never knew loving our first birth mother would lead to a second. On Bailey’s second birthday she was given the gift of becoming a big sister to our sweet Ella. Bailey talks about her second birthday like it was the best day of her life (even though her birthday party was cancelled)!

Adoption is the greatest blessing I could have ever asked for. My husband and I have another blessing to be thankful for that will be arriving in July. After almost 13 years of marriage we are experiencing our first pregnancy. We have had an amazing journey becoming parents through adoption and we wouldn’t change a thing.

Our stories are so similar I just had to comment. My kids birthmothers are best friends. I have a son and a daughter 10 1/2 months apart. We got our daughter because of our open relationship with our son’s birth mother. It’s neat to hear someone else in this situation. Whenever I tell our story in adoption circles everyone can’t believe it! And I just gave birth to a baby girl in February. Neat to have those similarities I thought. :-) BEAUTIFUL girls! Congrats!

That is so neat to have someone in such a similar situation. I am due with my son on Thursday and he can’t come soon enough!

That is so awesome! I always love hearing these stories. I’m a birth mom and because of the open adoption the family kept with me with the first I placed my second baby with them as well. So not only are they brother and sister because of adoption they are blood related as well. I also love hearing about mom’s who adopt getting pregnant. What an exciting time! Good luck with everything.

I am happy to say I have a darling 15 day old son at home. We are so thankful that he is here. His big sisters are obsessed with him! Having now experienced giving birth myself I now appreciate our birth mothers’ sacrifice even more!
